As Head of Sales and Customer Service at CCL Design Solingen since 2024, Nils Artmann plays a central role in shaping customer relationships, driving commercial success, and guiding strategic sales initiatives. His journey reflects a combination of discipline, adaptability, and continuous personal development.
Nils’ career began with his German Abitur, followed by several years as a professional handball player, a period that equipped him with resilience, teamwork, and strategic thinking. After retiring from professional sports, he completed an industrial clerk apprenticeship and then pursued a degree in Business Administration, which he successfully finished in 2020, further strengthening his understanding of finance, operations, and strategic management.
In 2019, while still completing his studies, Nils joined CCL Design Solingen as a working student. What started as part-time support quickly evolved into a long-term commitment. Over the years, he steadily took on greater responsibilities, learning the ins and outs of the company and its customers, and ultimately stepping into his current role as Head of Sales & Customer Service in 2024. His long-standing experience within CCL gives him a unique insight into both customer needs and internal processes.
When asked about his favorite project, Nils points to his very first assignment at CCL. It remains special to him, not only because it marked the start of his journey within the company, but also because it laid the foundation for the responsibilities he holds today.
For Nils, a “typical” workday is rare. His tasks vary depending on current customer demands and ongoing developments, managing serial production orders, coordinating new project inquiries and prototype parts, or responding to customer requests that require immediate attention. This dynamic environment leaves little room for routine, and it is precisely this variety that drives him.
What motivates Nils most is the strong team spirit at CCL Design. He values the supportive environment, the autonomy to shape his own workday, and the close collaboration within his department. Feeling like a key contributor to the company’s success gives him both responsibility and ongoing motivation.
Looking ahead, Nils aims to further support CCL Design Solingen in its technological development. He envisions a site that continues to evolve, diversifies its product portfolio, and introduces innovative solutions to the market—strengthening long-term competitiveness and positioning the location for sustainable growth.
Nils’ story illustrates how dedication, teamwork, and continuous development can transform a working student into a trusted department head—someone who began at CCL in 2019, completed his degree in 2020, and by 2024 has grown into a leadership role, shaping the company’s success every day.
