As our Technology Development Director based in Glasgow, Mohammed says the highlight of his career is seeing those he works with reach their potential and become managers and directors within the business themselves. Whilst he understands the importance of his own work, he knows how critical it is for any business to build great people.
Graduating from the University of Nottingham with an Honours in Mechanical Engineering offered a diverse foundation in design, analysis and problem solving, one that has propelled Mohammed through his career. To support his industry of choice, Mohammed completed a MSc in Polymer Technology from Edinburgh Napier University whilst continuing to work full time.
After starting at John McGavigan in 1993 (now part of CCL Design) as a Programmes Manager, Mohammed has progressed through the business supporting customers and product development, and more so now, supporting the staff who are involved in that development. As Technology Development Director, Mohammed could be travelling around the globe, developing technical teams for key projects and customers, or he could be in our Glasgow office strategically planning and setting priorities for technology development across CCL Design.
Mohammed has been involved in dozens, if not hundreds, of projects at CCL Design. Amongst his favourite was the development of in-house equipment that could process across 10 lanes for lamination, as opposed to a single lane procedure that had existed previously. Being motivated by new challenges, even when the outcome is uncertain is what has driven Mohammed through this career.
As Mohammed developed professionally, he maintained core values that have seen him succeed; giving 100% to his projects whilst being respectful, compassionate and dignified. His work ethic is based in fairness, and as he plans for the future, he continues to be motivated by new challenges. He hopes to make our Design Center at CCL Design Glasgow a center for excellence in UVM, whilst supporting the next generation through university projects and mentoring.
